Party Planning 101

If you have been strictly keeping tabs on your calendar lately, one can understand why; it is springtime. The bitter cold has paved the way for warmth while the vegetation is sprouting again. Flowers are in full blossom, and the grass is green all over you. When you look out the window, the outdoors is beckoning you to sample the beautiful weather. One thought that comes to mind is that of inviting your family, friends, and neighbors to an outdoor spring party.

However, with a celebratory event where people come over to your house, you need to plan. The tips below are sure to give you a head start.

Make early preparations

Springtime is for everyone, and they all want to enjoy the warm weather. Before people start getting busy, send them invitations in advance. Wisdom advises that you plan your event one or two months before the season kicks. At the same time, you give your guests ample time to confirm before they receive other engagements. Decide on the number of people to invite depending on your budget and space in your backyard.

Work out the menu

Depending on your budget, you could plan to hire a caterer for the day. Outsourcing saves you the trouble of cleaning up after everyone has left. You also find sufficient time to mingle with your guests, something that makes the party memorable. Whether self or outside-catered, you need to plan your menu as well as snacks for children. If you intend to have a barbeque, make adequate arrangements for grilling.

Drinks

Guests expect that you will serve them beverages at some point. Choose your beverages such that they cut across both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic types. Consider having a central serving location, but for large parties, you can hire a bartender. Also, have some fresh fruit juices and sodas for children. Remember bottled water too. Keep the drinks chilled in coolers; you can borrow a few for the occasion.

Entertainment

Your options might vary depending on the guest list. All the same, you could hire a DJ outfit complete with equipment. The other option is to improvise by putting your speakers at strategic points in the yard. You might need additional cables to enable the speakers to reach the farthest corner of the yard. Go through your CD collection and pick the music that your guests would love. If on self-entertainment, assign someone the responsibility of changing the CDs for continuity.

Décor

Decorate the site creatively to set the mood for a party. You could hire some deck chairs and arrange them around a fireplace; it might get cold in the evening.

Sum-up

Parties are a fantastic idea for bringing people together especially after months of hibernation. Make yours exciting by throwing weight on the preparation. Plan your menu several weeks before and include food choices that cater to different people. Drinks are a must; have some beer, wine, water, soda, and juice. Hire a DJ or provide your own music to set the party mood.

Dunk Tank Rental Fun

The dunk tank is a classic form of entertainment in America and can be found in almost every fair and festival in the US. At the most basic level, the dunk tank involves a seat that is placed above a small reservoir of water where the person being ‘dunked’ will be seated. The device has a button that has to be hit with an object, from a distance. Once the button is hit, the seat will retract and the person being dunked will land in the water below.

If you are still unconvinced about the fun that you would have with a dunk tank rental, let this article convince you with the following reasons.

  1. It is a fun activity for both kids and adults

In most get together involving families, you will find the children and adults forming separate groups since there are very few activities that interest both age groups. The dunk tank is one of the activities that will be fun for all members of the party to engage in. If the adults in the party have a wackier sense of humor, nothing can interest the kids as an opportunity to ‘dunk’ one of their parents.

  1. It Improves hand-eye coordination in kids

Growing children need activities that enable them to improve their spatial awareness and develop their hand-eye coordination. While organized sports can be a bit daunting for your children, the dunk tank presents a fun, and pressure-free, atmosphere for them to work on their aim. As they try to hit the target and ‘dunk’ a victim, your kids are not only having fun, but they are also improving their hand-eye coordination which will be helpful later in life.

  1. Dunk tanks come in various sizes

You don’t need an extremely large yard to rent a dunk tank. They come in a wide range of sizes and complexity. Even a small yard can accommodate one of the smaller models. If you are lucky enough to have a larger space to work with and are not working on a tight budget, then you can really go out in terms of getting one of the more elaborate models. These typically have larger water tanks and can ‘dunk’ more than one victim at a time.

  1. Dunk tanks are perfect for fundraising events

If you are hosting a fundraising event, then nothing raises money as fast as a dunk tank. All you need is a list of ‘prominent’ individuals to volunteer as dunking victims and you will have a long queue of participants. ‘Prominent’ in this case is relative to the crowd that you are working with. If it is an office event, then a few members of the top management brass will do. If you are working with a kid’s party, then some of the parents (or better yet, teachers) can volunteer to be dunked.

Whether it is for fundraising or just for a small get together, dunk tank rentals are an affordable way to have fun.  You can reserve a dunk tank with South Florida Bounce for your next carnival, event or party.  Call today to reserve 561-245-7100 or 954-420-2942.

Rentals For All Ages

Sometimes, when planning for an event that involves different age groups, it can be quite a challenge identifying activities that will be fun for everyone. The best approach is to find something that appeals to a particular age of people, and then get the one activity that is acceptable and fun for all. This way, no one feels left out and everyone gets to have their own fun.

It can be a little frustrating finding all these things in one place. This is mostly because most rentals only stock activities that cater to one or two demographics at a time. At South Florida Bounce & Slide, however, we are as close as you will ever get to a one-stop shop for all your event rentals. We have rentals that cater to all ages and for a variety of activities as well. These include:

  1. Kid’s activities

We understand that activities that appeal to kids will not necessarily appeal to the other people at an event. We have different rentals that cater to kids all the way from toddlers to fourth graders. We have bounce houses and combo units that appeal to this demographic. The Candy Land Toddler bounce house is more popular with the younger children, while older kids will enjoy the Disco Dome Bounce House. The Disco Dome allows them to freely express themselves in tune with the latest music and flashing lights.

  1. Young adults

If your event is centered more towards young adults, you will definitely want to look at our ‘young adults’ catalog of rentals. We have a large variety of activities that would appeal to young adults including water slides, carnival games, obstacle courses, and other more exciting options as well. Activities such as Sumo wrestling in the Sumo Arena, competing in the Xtreme Sports Arena or trying to win something in the carnival games stand will appeal to this demographic.

  1. Adults

Adults are forgotten when planning events that incorporate different age groups. They are mostly left to fend for themselves. At South Florida Bounce, however, we have activities that cater for adult entertainment. They range from the adrenaline-paced games to laid-back options for those who do not wish to break a sweat. Whether they are flying in the bungee trampoline, climbing the 25-foot rock wall or playing a fun game of human hungry hippo, we have you covered. As if that is not enough, we have an action-packed game of total meltdown where you and 7 of your friends can test each other’s agility and reaction times.

  1. Universals

Even as everyone is having fun on their own, there are certain universal activities that everyone can enjoy. These include the Velcro wall which is loads of fun for everyone involved. Other fun all-rounders include the human foosball and the wipe-out, where you and can feel like the contestants on the TV show.

  1. Fun food machines

What is the point of having all this fun if no food is involved? We have different fun food stands including a cotton candy maker and a snow cone machine. Both come with 60 servings although you can add more. We also have popcorn makers and hotdog makers as well. For those who would like to have memories of their event preserved, we have photo booths as well.

Book your event rental and give everyone at your event a chance to have a memorable time.

Plan A ‘Wipeout Party’

Wipeouts always look so awesome on TV where you can laugh at the contestants as they plummet into the water. It, therefore, comes as a welcome surprise when people realize that it is possible to plan one in your very own backyard. The logistics of planning one, however, can be a bit daunting if you do not know where to get the things you need.

This is what you need in order to make a wipeout party come true.

  1. Craft a plan

Nothing goes well without a plan. Planning a wipeout party is no different. To start with, you need to have a theme. This will help you decide what sort of activities you want to include in the party. It will also help you decide how many people you want to invite, what location to use, duration of the party, as well as any extras you want included, e.g. carnival foods.

Having a plan makes everything proceed a lot smoother as opposed to going gung ho. It sets an itinerary, lets people have fun while remaining easier to manage. Plans also help you have a bigger and clearer outlook of things and avoid overlooking the small but essential things.

  1. A bunch of fun people

Now that you have a plan, it is time to create an invite list. When doing this, refer to your plan and see what sort of venue you have and how many people it can hold. This is the first step in whittling down your invite list.  It will help you determine whether this is a family only affair, coworkers, friends or a mix of all three. Looking at your plan to determine what sort of age group you want at your party will also tell you who you need to invite. Now that you have got your invite list sorted, time to look at what you need to bring.

  1. Activities

The third stage of planning a wipeout party is looking at what sort of activities are available for you. At South Florida Bounce for example, we have a variety of rentals that would be ideal for this type of party. These depend of the type and size of the crowd invited. For instance, you can have “The Wipeout” which is ideal for a small gathering of a few family and friends. The Hungry Hippo, Water Balloon Wars, and The Dunk Tank are also awesome alternatives. Now you have a plan, which you have followed to create an invite list and pick out activities. The next step would be what to bring.

  1. A lot of towels

The logical thing to bring to a wipeout party, especially with activities that involve water, would be a lot of towels. That is probably the first thing you will tell the people invited to bring. The next item should obviously be a change of clothes of several, depending on the person. Other things that are essential for a wipeout party would be lotion and sunscreen. As with any gathering that is having an outdoor activity, make sure there is a fully-stocked first aid kit at hand. It never hurts to be prepared.

  1. A camera

There is no need to have all that fun and not document it. Memories are very important, and they are all we are left with after we are done with an activity. Make sure that, at the very least, there are enough selfies that you can share on your social media.

Wipeout parties are great as a team building activity or just plain fun. We can install a Wipeout set on your backyard overnight. It’s that simple!

Putting together a large event can be quite the headache. The tricky part is when you are trying to figure out where the entertainment for such a large number of people will come from. Should I Get A Tent For My Event?

When planning an event, one of the most important decisions in the planning phase is whether to get a tent. As temporary structures, tents give event organizers more flexibility in terms of the number of guests that they can cater to. So, what are the factors to consider when deciding on whether to get a tent or not?

  1. How many guests are you expecting for your event?

The number of guests that are invited to your event determines whether you will need a tent. If you have a small guest-list (less than 50 people) then finding a location for your event is easy as they can fit into an average-sized conference room. It, however, becomes more difficult to find a suitable venue for your event when you are working with a larger guest list. If your event has 500 attendees, for example, then it is easier (and cheaper) to get a tent. Tents come in varying sizes depending on your needs. You can also use multiple tents for a single event if you are working with truly large numbers.

  1. What budget are you working with?

While it is easier to get an event venue when you are working with a smaller guest list, if you are working with a limited budget, then you might still need to get a tent. Hiring a tent is always cheaper than hiring a brick and mortar event venue. That’s because with a tent you can hire open outdoor spaces which are almost always much cheaper than indoor spaces.

  1. What weather are you expecting?

There are numerous benefits to having an outdoors event. However, if there is a rainfall forecast or extreme heat, then for your guests’ comfort you need to get a tent. Keeping your guests exposed to the hot sun for an extended period of time might be just an uncomfortable as letting them get rained on. Tents are important in protecting your guests from the elements. However, if the weather is expected to get more severe, opt for indoor spaces which are more protected.

  1. Do you need to place your guests into groups?

If your event requires the attendees to be grouped, then tents offer the best solution. If you are organizing a graduation event, for example, then you can have a separate tent specifically for the graduating class. If you are holding a job fair, then different companies can have their own separate tents. Similarly, in a large wedding, you might want the different family members to be in their own separate tents for their convenience.

So overall, the decision to get a tent or not to get a tent is determined by the nature of your event, your budget, and the expected weather.

Unique Party Ideas for the South Florida Region

If you live in a place such as South Florida, you already understand our seasons are a bit different than the rest of the country. Because the heat is sometimes unbearable between the months of June to September, parents and party planners should get creative when it comes to party ideas. In this week’s blog, we share a few unique party ideas that will help beat the heat while still entertaining the guests.  As always you could add a bounce house or water slide to keep everyone occupied!

Cooling Towels are Superb Hand-Outs at any SoFlo Party

Cooling Towels are an excellent way to break up the heat and keep your guests comfortable. While many people may not even think of using a cooling towel during hot days, it’s certainly a great alternative to hanging out indoors. If you visit Amazon, you can buy these in bulk and get a discounted rate. Another aspect is they come in fun colors and designs making them the perfect accessory to pass out to your attendees.

Stay Hydrated with DIY Flavorful Waters

Next, stay hydrated with flavored waters. Visit Pinterest and experiment with some delicious DIY recipes to help quench everyone’s thirst. For extra cold drinks that won’t become too warm, too fast, freeze some of your creations in ice-cube trays for an additional burst of flavor. You can purchase spigot containers at places like Walmart on the cheap and have a variety of beverages to choose from that are also beautifully displayed.

Icy Cold-Water Balloons are a Real Splash!

Other than cooling towels and drinking water, why not host a pool party? This is the best time of the year for one of these shin-digs, and they take very little to plan. Be sure to invite neighbors and anyone who might want to be included in these fun events. While this isn’t necessarily unique, you can make it that way by the activities you include. Entertainment such as hula dancers might just heat things up too much? But, tossing around some water balloons filled with ice water and left in a child’s swimming pool full of ice, is a social and cooling solution.

No Party is Complete Without a Waterslide

Besides a chill pool party, another proven method to circulate some awesome fun in the hot Florida sun is by renting one of our great and refreshing waterslides. Your kids will never be disappointed during a family gathering, school or church event if you present one of these impressive attractions. If you want to keep things rolling without the complaints, this is an excellent solution.

Contact us directly to learn more about the inflatables and attractions for your celebration. In the meantime, stay cool!

Bounce House and Safety

South Florida is an excellent place to live. That statement is especially true if you are a kid. With ideal weather and a ton of attractions geared for children, this place is a tropical paradise for both kids and parents. However, when it comes to renting a bounce house, there are some concrete safety tips you should know, whether you’ll be renting  an inflatable for an event or, just as a treat for the whole family. Read this info to be well informed when it comes to safety and bounce houses.

First, be sure to hire a reputable company with a good track record. Since there’s very little to no regulation with these rentals, it’s important to find an organization that is going to look out for the safety of your family and friends.

Next, after the technicians install the bounce house, ask to do a full walk around the unit with them to ensure they’ve successfully anchored the bounce house to the ground. High gusts of wind are common in South Florida, so it’s imperative the installation and setup are secure and safe. Besides, the anchoring, have the rep point out there’s been extra precaution taken when it comes to water and electricity. In most cases, the designs are meant to be used around both and are constructed to prevent hazards. However, it’s good to do the walk around regardless. If anything looks suspicious ask about the item in question.

Besides the security of the structure, be sure to ask what the process is for cleaning their rentals. Do they do a wipe down or a full deep cleaning? As we all know, everyone with children is bound to have germs and a multitude of other health risks. However, most of the reputable companies take extra measure to be sure everyone’s not in jeopardy.

One more issue to point out here is that safety is both the responsibility of the bounce house attendant as well as the parents. Many times, kids are left un attended causing more severe issues. While bounce houses are designed for children to be free of danger, there’s still an activity that could cause a less than desirable outcome. In fact, just about every child entering a bounce house for the first time gets excited, and larger kids aren’t always watching the smaller ones. That being the case, kids can get hurt even during innocent play. Be sure as a parent you take the responsibility always to use your best judgment.

For the most part, bounce houses are safe and fun. A little extra work on both the part of the parent and the rental company just makes good sense.

Things to Consider When Considering Hiring Event Planners

Are you thinking about hiring an event planner for your next even? Consider these tips from the team at South Florida Bounce.

“Never lose sight of the fact that the most important yardstick of your success will be how you treat other people – your family, friends, and coworkers, and even strangers you meet along the way.” Barbara Bush

In the event that you should ever have to hire a party planner, we may have a few ‘Pearls of wisdom’ for you.  While no one will argue, there’s a lot of party and event planners in the South Florida area, it’s best to select someone you either know or have a referral.  But if you don’t, we compiled a few tips that may come in handy. Pass this on if you’re in the market for one of these incredibly hard working individuals help you with the next Smith Family Swaraj.

Write down everything you want to do for the party.

Break down what you want the event planner to help you with, then add what the planner’s responsibilities are, what yours will be (if any) and then what you’ll work on together.

Listen to the planner, once you’ve agreed on a plan.  Get what you paid for by letting this person assist where they are needed.  Try hard not to get in their way, by offering limited direction and control.

Finding a reputable planner is easy when you live in an area where everyone you know is in the hospitality business.  They’ve probably got event planners coming out of the palm tree prawns.  Ask for their recommendations, then check their references and make sure you get a good report from places like the Chamber of Commerce or any other association the planner may be involved in.

Don’t waste time, it’s the only one thing you can never get back. By living a life of demanding to get what you paid for or bust is perfectly acceptable.  If the planner isn’t doing a good job for you, never be afraid to go in another direction.  Most people you encounter will want to carry out a good reputation.  But don’t waste your own time or theirs if you aren’t happy with their performance. If they’re new, be gentle but let them know why it isn’t working out.  They will be glad you did later on.

Ask for a proposal, once you’ve determined a budget.  That should be in writing with a break-down of work expected.  A work for hire agreement is one that may be expected to be signed by both parties.  The planner should have these items, since these are industry standards.

Remember that these folks do not have to be licensed and are not regulated by the government.  Do your due diligence and expect a background check to be done. Especially if this person will be given permission to pay for charges with your credit card or if they’ll be involved with entering your home.  Safety first, a good event planner will be understood and should be willing to accommodate.

Negotiating their prices is perfectly legal.  Ask them to go lower if you feel that other people have offered a greater value.  On the flip side, tip them if they are deserving of a job well done.

The most important element here is to remember why you’re throwing the party or event in the first place. Although it’s normal for many people to get anxious when planning a big celebration or corporate outing, but getting the right person to help you can make a big difference.  By making a solid and agreeable plan before throwing the party, having a realistic budget and a good working relationship with your planner will make your life easier.
