Bounce House 101: What to Consider Before Renting

Bounce houses are one of the most popular inflatables for children’s parties, business promotions, fundraisers, and special events. Since their creation in 1959, they’ve been a continuing source of happiness for children. Most people only think about the fun factor when renting a bounce house, but there are other things to consider.

Cleanliness

Sanitation is always a primary concern and that’s especially true in an era of the COVID-19 pandemic. The rental company should employ a stringent cleaning routine using anti-bacterial and anti-viral formulas. The company should also be willing to wipe down the bounce house after it arrives.

Children’s Ages

To maintain safety protocols, bounce houses are designed for children ages 3-12. Children under the age of three can have problems exiting the inflatable on their own and youngsters over 12 may be too tall or heavy for safe participation. Group children by age when using the equipment. A good rule is 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

Number of Children

Talk with the rental company about the number of children that will be in attendance. The company can help with choosing the right size. Each bounce house has an occupancy limit.

Insurance

The individual’s insurance policy may not cover any incidents involving a bounce house, so make sure the rental company is insured. If the company has pricing that’s too good to be true, seek a bounce house elsewhere.

Contracts

Renters will need to sign a waiver indicating they’ll be responsible for the equipment and how it’s used while at their location. The rental company should always provide clients with a written contract spelling out all the details of the rental.

Inspections

Renters have the prerogative of examining the bounce house for any rips, tears or other damage and it should be firmly anchored to the ground. If any damage is detected or tie-downs aren’t employed, don’t sign the paperwork.

Supervision

An adult should be on duty at all times to ensure safety and that the proper number of children are using the bounce house. In the event of high winds or inclement weather, power to the unit should be discontinued and children evacuated from the bounce house. Never allow youngsters to use the equipment during those conditions.

Unique Party Ideas for the South Florida Region

If you live in a place such as South Florida, you already understand our seasons are a bit different than the rest of the country. Because the heat is sometimes unbearable between the months of June to September, parents and party planners should get creative when it comes to party ideas. In this week’s blog, we share a few unique party ideas that will help beat the heat while still entertaining the guests.  As always you could add a bounce house or water slide to keep everyone occupied!

Cooling Towels are Superb Hand-Outs at any SoFlo Party

Cooling Towels are an excellent way to break up the heat and keep your guests comfortable. While many people may not even think of using a cooling towel during hot days, it’s certainly a great alternative to hanging out indoors. If you visit Amazon, you can buy these in bulk and get a discounted rate. Another aspect is they come in fun colors and designs making them the perfect accessory to pass out to your attendees.

Stay Hydrated with DIY Flavorful Waters

Next, stay hydrated with flavored waters. Visit Pinterest and experiment with some delicious DIY recipes to help quench everyone’s thirst. For extra cold drinks that won’t become too warm, too fast, freeze some of your creations in ice-cube trays for an additional burst of flavor. You can purchase spigot containers at places like Walmart on the cheap and have a variety of beverages to choose from that are also beautifully displayed.

Icy Cold-Water Balloons are a Real Splash!

Other than cooling towels and drinking water, why not host a pool party? This is the best time of the year for one of these shin-digs, and they take very little to plan. Be sure to invite neighbors and anyone who might want to be included in these fun events. While this isn’t necessarily unique, you can make it that way by the activities you include. Entertainment such as hula dancers might just heat things up too much? But, tossing around some water balloons filled with ice water and left in a child’s swimming pool full of ice, is a social and cooling solution.

No Party is Complete Without a Waterslide

Besides a chill pool party, another proven method to circulate some awesome fun in the hot Florida sun is by renting one of our great and refreshing waterslides. Your kids will never be disappointed during a family gathering, school or church event if you present one of these impressive attractions. If you want to keep things rolling without the complaints, this is an excellent solution.

Bounce House and Safety

South Florida is an excellent place to live. That statement is especially true if you are a kid. With ideal weather and a ton of attractions geared for children, this place is a tropical paradise for both kids and parents. However, when it comes to renting a bounce house, there are some concrete safety tips you should know, whether you’ll be renting  an inflatable for an event or, just as a treat for the whole family. Read this info to be well informed when it comes to safety and bounce houses.

First, be sure to hire a reputable company with a good track record. Since there’s very little to no regulation with these rentals, it’s important to find an organization that is going to look out for the safety of your family and friends.

Next, after the technicians install the bounce house, ask to do a full walk around the unit with them to ensure they’ve successfully anchored the bounce house to the ground. High gusts of wind are common in South Florida, so it’s imperative the installation and setup are secure and safe. Besides, the anchoring, have the rep point out there’s been extra precaution taken when it comes to water and electricity. In most cases, the designs are meant to be used around both and are constructed to prevent hazards. However, it’s good to do the walk around regardless. If anything looks suspicious ask about the item in question.

Besides the security of the structure, be sure to ask what the process is for cleaning their rentals. Do they do a wipe down or a full deep cleaning? As we all know, everyone with children is bound to have germs and a multitude of other health risks. However, most of the reputable companies take extra measure to be sure everyone’s not in jeopardy.

One more issue to point out here is that safety is both the responsibility of the bounce house attendant as well as the parents. Many times, kids are left un attended causing more severe issues. While bounce houses are designed for children to be free of danger, there’s still an activity that could cause a less than desirable outcome. In fact, just about every child entering a bounce house for the first time gets excited, and larger kids aren’t always watching the smaller ones. That being the case, kids can get hurt even during innocent play. Be sure as a parent you take the responsibility always to use your best judgment.

For the most part, bounce houses are safe and fun. A little extra work on both the part of the parent and the rental company just makes good sense.
