Keep Your Pet Safe in the Florida Heat

Millions of people flock to Florida each year to spend time in the summer sun and they often bring their pets with them. What you may not realize is that the very warmth you seek can make your pet ill or even kill them if you don’t take appropriate precautions.

A majority of the pets that people take with them are dogs, but cats, birds, fish, ferrets and even pet pigs can experience heat exhaustion and death if left in a car, truck or motorhome for even a short length of time on a mildly warm or humid day.

Animals don’t sweat – they can only pant to cool themselves off. Vehicle temperatures can elevate by 20 degrees in just 10 minutes and increase exponentially. Leaving a window cracked doesn’t help and can actually exacerbate the situation. The following tips will help keep your pet safe in the Florida heat.

  • Never leave an animal in a parked car, even for 5 minutes
  • Don’t walk pets on paved surfaces or on hot beach sand – it burns their feet
  • Avoid walks and playtime during the warmest and most humid parts of the day
  • For pets with medical or breed-related conditions, be aware that even a short walk can endanger them
  • Always make sure your pet has a sufficient supply of fresh clean water, plenty of shade and a non-paved place to rest
  • Provide your pet with access to air conditioning – they need it even more than you do
  • A hair trim is fine to help your pet in the heat, but never shave them – they’ll sunburn
  • Regular grooming can help pets shed loose hair that can contribute to overheating
  • If you see a pet trapped in a vehicle on a hot day, notify authorities and stay there until help arrives

Humidity adversely affects pets as much as heat and Florida experiences its share of both. The danger increases when the two are combined. You and your pet can enjoy your sojourn in Florida by taking appropriate precautions to keep them safe and factoring in the weather conditions for the time of year you visit.

Dealing with the After-Holiday Blah’s

The season has come and gone and now everyone who is blasé with vacations, toys, sweets, etc., is now looking for anything to say those horrific words “I’m bored.” As a parent, these words muttered together with that sniveling whine can make you quiver with angst. What do you do? We’ve got the answers right here in this week’s blog.

Hint, Hint: (of course, we’re not going to tell you to rent a bounce house or anything until the end, where you’ll be looking to put us on speed dial)

There are a million, gazillion, trillion answers online. By visiting places like Pinterest and Parenting Magazine, you can find a ton of great games, projects or whatever else floats your kid’s boat. Here’s a one we found ideal for staying home.

The Fizzy Candy Cane Experiment is totally awesome and a great way to rid your children of cavities. Plus, it’s a science project, so it’s okay. You’ll need the following to conduct the process:

  • Leftover Candy Canes
  • 1 Box Baking Soda
  • 1 Bottle Vinegar
  • Any Color Food Coloring
  • A baking pan that’s deep
  • Measuring Cup
  • Spoons

Follow these steps:

  1. Spread all the baking soda out on the sheet.
  2. Place Candy Canes on top of the baking soda and try to spread them out evenly.
  3. Mix food coloring with a cup of vinegar.
  4. With a spoon have each child drop vinegar mixture onto the baking soda in the pan.

If all goes well, there’s going to be a lot of fizz and the colors from the food coloring plus whatever dye is in the candy canes will create beautiful designs of foamy color. If you didn’t like the idea of this project, let’s move onto the next.

Another idea to keep in your boredom briefcase is local activities online.

  • Take your kids to an outdoor yoga camp for a day.
  • You can do a Google Alert for free events in South Florida or Coral Springs.
  • Consider visiting one of the many museums in South Florida. Check to see if they have any days open to free admittance for kids.

The Ultimate Summer Carnival

Before summer is over, there’s plenty of time to facilitate a great summer carnival for your church, little league or any other organization. We’ve got some incredible inflatables for rent to turn that carnival into a South Florida Bounce carnival they’ll never forget. Check out the tips, here!
Besides the traditional bounce houses that everyone rents, why not start out with a mega-waterslide or an obstacle course that will give your attendees a real thrill? We’ve got the biggest selection in all of South Florida and renting with us is done with a no-hassle theory.
A few other attractions to consider is our rock climbing wall, trackless train and the corn toss. All of which are excellent ways to entertain guests and keep the party rocking.
No party would be complete without having a picture. Include a photo booth or selfie booth, just like you find at Coney Island. People love these and you will have a lot of fun, exchanging the photos.
If you’re having a fundraiser or some other little league event, why not book our Home Run Challenge, Basketball Hoop or Large Soccer Goal? This is a great feature at any carnival, where you could include game prizes for those with a high score. Don’t forget to make a trip to the Dollar Store for some inexpensive give-a-ways.
Are you doing some type of team activities? We’ve got the perfect water balloon toss. Our Water Balloon Wars inflatable will help to keep your participants covered while wizzing water balloons at one another. This is important to protect people from the hot rays of the SoFlo sun.
We’ve got several dunk tanks for your party. These are perfect for school and church events. The only thing these don’t come with ice water and the person that’s the target.
Want to see the ultimate fight? Rent our Gladiator Joust for a bit of excitement. Two opposing players will stand on opposite podiums surrounded by an inflatable bounce platform, that gives a safe landing and then watch the two try to knock each other till the other falls off.
Don’t forget, we rent out Hot Dog rollers, Cotton Candy Makers, tables and chairs to make your event complete. Many of our organizations that have used our products and services in the past use raffle tickets for their carnivals. We’ve got everything you need or we know who does. Be sure to give us all your festival details so we can make suggestions.
No matter if you’re looking for a day or a week, we can help make your carnival or fundraiser it’s biggest success to date.

Corporate Party Event Idea: Dunk Tanks

Corporate Party Ideas That Bounce, Dunk or Splash!

Who wouldn’t like to see their boss in a dunk tank either for a corporate part or for your next corporate fundraiser in Palm Beach or Broward County?

If your boss gave you the honor of planning an event for your office or you’re a party planner, then this event tip is for you!  Often the person planning has to come up with ideas that will motivate or help with building teamwork for the company parties.  We have outlined a few ideas here for your consideration next time you’re plagued with the company planning.

Wouldn’t you love to see your boss get dunked?

Team building is one goal that many companies look to achieving when gathering employees together.  Think outside of the box and build successful teamwork.  Use one of the obstacle course bounce houses or our Wipeout to build team camaraderie? With our Interactive Bounce Houses, your teams will be talking about the event months later.

Use one of the Dry Slides as part of a relay race.  Don’t forget to include Cotton Candy and Hot Dogs and include a carnival themed party.  Keep the laughter going with one of the photo booths. The Strip Photo Booth offers retro pictures and a variety of different photo options. The guests can take pics that are black and white pics or funny props.  The photo booth is a memorable way to share the excitement.

Give the crew a few laughs by having a dunk tank on site.  Select the perfect people to be the dunkers and watch everyone jump in line for a shot at dunking their favorite co-worker.  Imagine Charlie or Bob from IT shouting and carrying on while Sally from accounting gives him a serious soaking.  Whoever is the dunker or the dunkee fun will be had by all.

Bounce houses and water slides make even the oldest employee have a good time.  These inflatable novelties are not just for kid’s parties.  Just a little planning and innovation you’ll look like the employee of the year.  Or if you’re a party planner, these large bouncing toys will make you be the first in mind for planning everyone’s events.
