Songs of Summer

Summertime has always been a favorite subject for songs and there’s no shortage of tunes to while away the summer whether you’re a fan of oldies or the latest releases. Special songs have the ability to evoke powerful memories of people, places and experiences. They’re the soundtrack of our memory.

A summer playlist is the ideal accompaniment to any activity whether it’s a day on the beach, commuting to work, taking a road trip, or walking the dog. A song track can transport you to a time when life was simple, the poignancy of a first love, or the sheer feeling of freedom and happiness that summer represents.

There’s no time limit on the songs of summer.  You can find summer playlists on many of the most popular streaming platforms.  You can create your own “mixtape” or choose from different themes. They can be current hits or tunes that you remember from high school. The important thing is that they make you feel good. The following are just a few suggestions to consider.

  1. “Sucker” by the Jonas Brothers
  2. “Ice Cream” by Mika
  3. “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” by Shawn Mendes
  4. “Queen of the Night” by Whitney Houston
  5. “Ex’s & Oh’s” by Elle King
  6. “Get the Party Started” by Pink
  7. “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran
  8. “Mic Drop” by BTS
  9. “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift
  10. “Roar” by Katy Perry

A summer playlist is easy to assemble based on your personal preferences. Don’t be afraid to include some throw-back tracks. There are tunes that make you want to get up and dance, those that are ideal for working out at the gym, and songs that make you want to “Shout it Out Loud.”

The most important thing is “That’s the Way” you like it. No one wants to listen to the same songs over and over, so make sure the list is wide-ranging – it can be as long as you want – so go out and make your summer spectacular.

Keeping Safe In The Summer Heat

During summer, you want to make the most of the summer sun before the chilly fall weather sets in. Summer always seems to rush by, and the colder months drag along. Understandably, this would make you want to stay out longer in the sun, getting that tan in as much as you can before you have to pack the shorts away.

As you enjoy time in the sun, be sure to stay safe in the heat of summer. It is likely that one can get sunstroke, heat stroke or even a nasty sunburn if you do not take the following precautions.

  1. Take lots of fluids

During summer, you are bound to lose more water through perspiration than in the colder months. It is wise to keep a cold drink close by and sip from it often; do not wait until you are thirsty to drink. Furthermore, avoid alcoholic and sugary drinks because they can actually dehydrate you! The best drink to reach for is a cool bottle or glass of water. However, you should avoid very cold drinks as these are known to cause stomach cramps.

  1. Stay indoors

What? Stay indoors during summer? Well, when the temperatures are really high, especially in the early afternoons, you should stay away from the direct sun. By staying indoors, you can choose to take your outdoor fun indoors to a mall for some shopping or a movie theatre to catch the latest blockbuster. A few hours in an air-conditioned area will help your body to stay cooler once you get back outside under the sun.

  1. Your dressing

During summer, choose light-weight, airy fabrics to keep your skin free from any build-up of sweat. Furthermore, you should wear clothes that are loose-fitting and have light colors, not dark colors. It is a widely proven fact that dark colors absorb heat while light colors deflect it away from you. Additionally, you should put on a wide-brimmed hat to protect your head, face, neck, and shoulders from the sun’s glare. Don’t forget to put on some sunscreen with a high UV filter to protect your skin.

  1. Children and pets

Keep children and pets in shady areas away from the direct glare of the sun. Ensure that you apply child-sensitive sun-screen on your children before you step out with them. Furthermore, ensure that they are well hydrated by keeping them on fluids continually. Do not, under any circumstances, leave children or pets in a locked car even for a few minutes, this is very dangerous.

If you observe these tips, you are sure to enjoy your summer without rushing to the ER this year. Another great way to keep safe in the summer heat is renting any one of our waterslides which come with a shaded area to protect you from the sun as you keep cool in the water. Host A College Football Rivalry Party

Football is arguably America’s biggest sport, and the college football season is one of the most highly anticipated sporting events in the country. Part of football’s appeal lies in the adrenaline, competitiveness, and bonding with friends. Nothing improves the football watching experience than having some good company over. American football has been played since the late 19th century, and in its rich history, some strong rivalries have developed. Games against rivals add to the competitiveness and this just makes it more fun. When hosting a college football rivalry party, where your team is playing one of its fierce rivals, you need to provide the perfect atmosphere for you and your guests. Here are four tips on how to do so.

  1. Get the food menu right

One of the key ingredients in a football watching party is the food. When deciding on how to feed your guests, you should ensure that the food you are offering can be consumed while watching the game. Under normal circumstances, watching your team is an emotional experience. This level of emotion is further amplified when you are playing a hated rival. You should ensure that you get finger food which can be eaten by hand. You need to have as few eating implements as possible; you don’t want your TV to be destroyed by a fork thrown in anger. Your menu should also appeal to your guests universally; go for ‘common’ food items that (almost) everyone enjoys such as chips, chicken wings, ribs, etc.

  1. Have enough drinks for your guests

The thought of having a rivalry football party without drinks is almost sacrilege. Drinks are what make (or break) a football party. As a diligent host, you should make an effort to understand the preference of your guests in terms of their preferred drink. If you are not able to cater to every person’s preference, you can make a fruit punch. Adding food coloring to the punch to match your team colors is a good way to show solidarity with your team for a rivalry game. Ultimately, quantity trumps quality when purchasing drinks for a football party. You should ensure that you have enough drinks for the game, and any possible post-match celebrations. Also, you should have enough non-alcoholic drink options for the guests that do not consume alcohol.

  1. Ensure that you provide a good viewing experience

When organizing a football rivalry party, a lot of hosts focus too much on the food and drinks, forgetting to improve the viewing experience. You should ensure that your guests enjoy watching the game. If you are expecting a lot of guests, then you might have to re-arrange your furniture or add some more furniture to ensure that everyone will be comfortable during the game. You might have to re-position your television to ensure that all your guests can view the game.

  1. Show your team colors

Watching a rivalry game is one of the most intense experiences for any sports fan. You need to ensure that you set the atmosphere just right to enjoy the game. Part of your party budget should be dedicated to ensuring that your décor shows your support. You could get a few team posters in the viewing room or possibly use team branded cups for the drinks. Depending on your budget, you should try to decorate your space with your team’s colors and/or merchandise.

With these tips, you can have a rivalry viewing party that will live long in your guests’ memories.

Host a Labor Day BBQ Right!

Ahhh the smell of food grilling and the excitement from the last of the fireworks, you know Labor Day is here once again. If you plan on hosting a barbeque this year, then we’ve got three excellent tips to make your event incredible. From the corn on the stick to a good dessert, South Florida Bounce has the answers to do it up right!

First tip: Be Prepared! Since we are knee deep into hurricane season in South Florida, be sure to have a weather app with notifications. Apps such as Accuweather help to keep you alert when there’s rough terrain ahead when it comes to rain or shine. Be sure to plan your party centered around things like the heat index and any other issues that could arise. We Floridians know and plan accordingly with an alternative to taking the fun outdoors. Don’t limit your fun, just be sure to prepare to host indoors if you get washed out. For instance, host a Wii tournament or some other contest that’s suitable for the indoor activity.

Next tip: Invite old friends and get re-acquainted. If there’s someone you haven’t had the time to see in a while, then ask them to join. Keeping friendships is important no matter who you are, and a BBQ is the ideal setting for sparking up some memories and conversation. Don’t wait until the other holidays when life’s events can get hectic. Besides, everyone loves a good backyard celebration.

Third tip: Include games, swimming, and waterslides. The difference between a good BBQ and a GREAT BBQ, is always the entertainment. In fact, we may be guessing a bit, but not too many people enjoy hearing from their kids “Mom, Dad, I’m bored.” Be sure to keep them occupied with more than the grown-up talk. Having the right mix of activities and people makes all the difference in the world when planning a BBQ.

Make the last big party of the summer, one your guests always remember. Don’t be alarmed with back to school plans or anything else. Just grab a tall cold drink, eat some char-broiled grub and stay happy. Afterall, it won’t be long now before you can start planning for the holiday parties.
